The Dark Web Murders is a mystery and crime thriller novel written by author Brian O'Hare. It is the fourth instalment in The Inspector Sheehan Mysteries series.

Starting with the killing of Judge Trevor Neeson, there begins a string of murders. Nothing connected them, except the murder weapon, an old fashioned police truncheon. As Detective Sheehan and his team of detectives and forensic experts dived deeper to find out how the murders are connected, they started uncovering dark secrets which were, until then, safely stashed away in the Judge's safe.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Denise Stewart, Sheehan's detective partner, finds a blog which has surfaced on the Dark Web. It is a network with dark secrets which are used by the most dangerous of men for their sinister deeds and provides criminals with access and support. This discovery of the blog by the Sergeant turned the investigation in a whole another different direction.

It is my first time reading the work of the author, and I fell in love with his style of writing. The author has done an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The story was fast-paced and incredibly engaging from start to finish. The thought process of all the detectives in the team was fascinating to read. I loved how the author also gave us a glimpse of the mind of the killer through the blog.

I loved how outspoken and badass Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan was. However, my favourite character was Sergeant Stewart. She was brave and did not let others intimidate her in what was predominantly a male-dominated job. She made it clear time and again that she was trained for the job as a detective and did not expect her colleagues to treat her differently just because of her gender. I loved her courage and passion for her profession. She is hands down my favourite character in the entire novel.

I would recommend the novel to murder, mystery and crime thriller lovers. However, there are some intense and graphic scenes more specifically towards the end of the book, which some readers may want to avoid reading.

I have rated this book 4 out of 4 stars. The story is wonderfully written and hooked me till the very end. I have no complaints whatsoever. As the book is perfectly edited and proofread, I have no reason not to rate it a perfect four stars. It was indeed a very delightful read.

Using the blog to give an idea of what's going on in the mind of the murderer sounds interesting. You have given a sufficient glimpse of each character to raise my interest in the book. Look forward to reading it someday.
