[Following is a volunteer review of "Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat" by R.F. Kristi.]
Have you ever been to Sri Lanka? If not, you're welcome to accompany Inca and her detective team on their vacation to this exotic island. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Kristi is an entertaining book filled with adventures.
Shortly after returning from a trip, Inca got the exciting news that she and her team would accompany their Mom on another vacation. The destination is Sri Lanka, a paradisaic island. However, instead of idling away in serene environments, Inca and her detective team had to roll up their sleeves for serious detective work. Would a coalition of cats, dogs, elephants, and a turtle discover the criminals behind the museum heist? What would be the outcome of this complicated case? Pick up a copy of this book to find out.
It is clear that Kristi is a talented writer. Although the animals were of different species, the dialogues between them were in no way awkward. It was believable and realistic. Also, the plot is simple enough for kids to understand, and the illustrations were quite colorful. The suspense in the story makes it really engaging. What I love most in this book is the picture of the beach. It was alluring and inviting.
This book was professionally edited. There were no typographical and grammatical errors in the text. The only thing I disliked about this book is the lack of humor in the dialogue. However, I did not deduct a star for this because it's a children's book. I also observed that the grammar in the text is simple enough for kids, and there were no profanities in the book.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was excellently written. There are moral lessons to be learned from this book. Children can understand that it is good to be helpful when others need help. Children between the ages of 5 to 10 years would find this book to be engaging.
