[Following is a volunteer review of "Love, Grandma" by Ann Morris.]
Love, Grandma is an illustrated rhymes book written by Ann Morris. In this book, the author recalls the early years she has spent with her granddaughters. The book contains the love of a grandmother for her granddaughters, Payton and Haley, and the fun they had together. Baby Payton and Grandma love each other. They play with toys, read books, and have pony rides. Payton loves to dress up as her grandmother.
Later, Payton’s baby sister, Haley joins the fun. They have sleepovers and story times with Grandma. Payton and Haley love brushing Grandma’s hair and painting her nails. Grandma witnesses every moment of their childhood fun and takes part in it. Payton and Haley grow up in front of Grandma’s eyes and fill her heart with pride with their talents. No matter how old they grow, Grandma will always have their memories in her heart.
Love, Grandma is a heartwarming account of the relationship between a grandmother and her granddaughters. This book shows how strong a relationship children can build with their grandparents. In a world where human relationships are crumbling, and older people are getting neglected by their own families, this book shows how wholesome a family would be with their elders. I remembered my grandmother and the fun times we had while reading this.
The thing I liked the most is the rhyme format. This format will attract children more to the book and make the reading enjoyable. The illustrations are colorful and beautiful. I also liked the message of love this book sends.
There is nothing I disliked about this book. There is absolutely no profanity, and I can’t find any errors. The language used is very simple.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is error free, and I think it is a book every child should read to understand the important of relationship with their elders. I recommend it to children from ages five to ten.
