[Following is a volunteer review of "The Secret of Magic" by Natassa Louppou.]
The Secret Of Magic: The Forbidden Box by Natassa Louppou was a flawless book connecting history or you can say more like creating history in the night after opening the forbidden box. A twelve-year-old girl in a hurry to grow up still got curious. A really awesome storybook for kids to read.
It was after the special occasion that she started opening the gifts and saw the big black suitcase. Opened it and a sleeping rabbit woke up that had been scared out of wits with the little girl as the "home" was shaking. Later they traveled time together making history the whole night. All things happening on the very same date: 15th April.
This book contains no profane words and is perfectly safe for kids to read. Also, it is exceptionally well-edited, absolutely flawless. I would give it 4 out of 4 stars without a single doubt. Connecting dots is the best thing done in any story and so is done here. A fiction connecting to reality making it fabulous. I recommend it for kids aging 14 or above, cause one below 14 might not actually understand the content in the book. As I said it has fragments of history to complete the fiction but also making it a beautiful story.
The whole book was moving very smoothly and transitions were totally nice too. The time when she moved from her room to the ship that happened to be a great ship, saved small precious life even if unable to save everyone. Moving from there to the wartime era and setting steps in the studio of the famous painter of all time and got back where she belonged. Absolutely wonderful story.
What I liked was the date acting as a precious connection during the time. Who knew that the same date of the year can possibly be so related. Also what was also fabulous was the time she stood up and did something righteous. This story really shows a child who dreams of a better world. This 12-year-old was enough to prove it by saving a life and doing the right if it was possible by her instead of ignoring it and only trying to get of out the mystery to escape. I would recommend reading.
