Review by buttercake20+ -- How To Be Successful
Two things drive a person; inspiration and Desperation (page 40). M. Curtis McCoy has created HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL to serve as an inspiration to as many people as possible. He aims to establish that becoming successful does not depend on your background, how people see you, or the challenges life throws your way. He started Success, Motivation & Inspiration in 2015, a blog aimed at helping aspiring entrepreneurs to achieve more. His desire to impact the lives of people positively prompted the emergence of this book.
M. Curtis McCoy is a man that has experienced both sides of life, the good and the bad. He has faced and survived cancer and has been able to defeat both financial and health odds, emerging as a success. HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL is an inspirational book that features interview sessions with various successful people. He uses his story and that of the people he interviewed to establish that it is possible to overcome odds and succeed in life. He uses fourteen questions to give the audience an insight into the backgrounds, success journeys, and stories of the interviewees.
What I love most about this book is the communication flow. The conversations are relatable and direct, the diction is simple and easy to understand, and the quotes get you thinking. Satisfactorily, the interview sessions give the feel of physical presence in the interview. Also, answers to interview questions are not diluted with personal thoughts or notes from the writer.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. it was professionally edited as I was unable to find any error while reading through. I would not recommend this book for atheists and people who are not interested in being informed about Christianity and the works of Christians. Although the book is not about Christianity, the Bible makes up an integral part of it. Regardless of this, the book does not seem preachy. Also, people that dislike inspirational books would not be the right fit for this book.
I would recommend this book for people who value and seek to grow relationships and friendships, and people who are lovers of inspirational books. It is suitable for all audiences, old and young. There is one occurrence of the use of profanity, but it was employed to report a situation the writer had experienced. With the right guidance on this one occurrence, younger audiences should be safe reading the book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of how well written and professionally edited it is. I did not rate it less because I disliked nothing about it. It was impactful and thought-provoking. There are valuable life lessons and advice that can transform a person’s method of thinking and life choices.
