[rwc=id421006-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo is a heartwarming romance novel geared towards young adults. After reading this story, it became one of my favorites. The main character is a young man, Jonathan McCalister. He is a senior in high school and the star quarterback of his high school football team, the Katy Tigers. He has his dream life in his hands and many opportunities ahead of him. After winning the state championship his life changed forever. Due to what seemed to be a little mistake, Jonathan lost his sister and his dreams in a tragic car accident. How will he ever overcome this? He isolated himself from family and friends. Depression began to take him over. It was a tough journey with a happy ending.
Glenn Vo did a wonderful job writing this story. I found zero grammatical or spelling errors. There was also no erotic scenes or profanity. I love that Glenn Vo stayed on topic throughout the story. The way he described each scene in detail kept me hooked and wanting to read more. I could not put this down. He clearly understands the game of football and how exciting it can be. His details made me feel like I was there in the moment. The way he described the bright lights, smell of popcorn, the sound of family and friends cheering in the stands, the excitement, and the cold breeze made me want to be there. I wanted to put myself in the story. This is a book I will definitely come back to someday.
I would recommend this book to all young adults and high schoolers. It may seem like a story about football, but it is so much more than that. It’s about second chances, forgiveness, family, and friends. We all have dreams that can be shattered at anytime. The way Jonathan McCalister pushes through the hardest time in his life and gets back on his feet is so heartwarming. It seemed like he had lost everything, but he gained even more.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. The writing is impeccable. There are no mistakes. It is very detailed. There is not a single thing about this story that I dislike. The story focuses on family, love, God, friends, dreams, loss, forgiveness, and hope. It is a very good read that I will forever recommend to my fellow book lovers.
