How to Beat The Dream Stealers by David Mendenhall, is a very powerful motivational book. David shares practical wisdom for daily living, which is able to transform any person sick and tired of a stagnant unproductive life or anyone seeking the motivation to move to the next level in their life. The author identifies the key dream stealers we ought to watch out for.

The book comprises of three parts, arranged in an easy to read format. I finished reading it in four days. It is a short book and yet loaded with valuable wisdom, principles, theories and guidelines. The small pictures throughout the book enable the reader to grasp the principles under discussion easily. Furthermore, the book is punctuated with a fair number of inspiring quotations from various authors. My favorite one is “Success is having something to do, someone to love and something to hope for,” by Bill Bartman.

I find this book to be a significant addition to my library, which I can refer to from time to time. There is one particular illustration in this book which I liked the most, the horizontal hour glass. On one side of the hour glass representing my current level of comfort, and on the other side, the desired level of comfort, or new comfort zone. I learnt that I do not have to succumb to the pressures of this world and so remain in my current comfort zone.

The book is also interactive, in that there are times the author asks the reader to take some few minutes to write down some lists, or to answer a few personal questions. I found this to be a very useful way to reflect and see where one needs some changes in their lives. This encourages the reader to take immediate action as they go along the book. This also means that the reader begins to benefit from the book as they read it, as long as one is willing to take time to apply what the author calls for.

I could not find anything to dislike about this book. I enjoyed it all the way to the end. It is also evident that the book was professionally edited. For these reasons, I am rating this marvelous book at 4 out of 4 stars.

This book is capable of dislodging any mediocrity out of a person’s life and allow them to live their lives at their best version. I recommend this book to every human being who is willing to take massive action and move towards their maximum potential.
