So you are given a cap on your life, 60-90 days to live, what do you do? Make a success of it, as the author M.Curtis McCoy so brilliantly shows us in this book.

In How to Be Successful: Think like a Leader by M. Curtis McCoy the author shares his personal story of triumph in business. From being a success at a young age to losing all but his spirit and will to succeed in life after being diagnosed with brain cancer. He tells us about how his family and faith can become rocks to lean on in times of turmoil and how one must make use of that solid foundation when entering the entrepreneurial space.

The book consists mostly of interviews- discussions that McCoy himself had with the people he looks up to. He asks them all the same few questions on how they measure success.
In between the interviews McCoy also added some interesting titbits like practicing delayed gratification and key business tools like the importance of organization and self discipline as well as what he has learnt along the path to success.

McCoy Speaks to fellow leaders Jeff “Biggs” Wobig, Connie Wyatt, Paul B. Watson, Eric Payne, Caujuan Mayo, Nathan Schulhof and Jeff McGregor in his interviews. Faith and religion is a frequently touched topic by both the author and of his guests.

M. Curtis McCoy takes quite a casual approach and style in piecing together this book. One could argue that it is too simply put together and could use some further professional editing to help improve the flow of the story.

What I disliked most about how to be successful: think like a leader is the font. I honestly could not pick up anything bad to say about this book other than font choice. The ol’ typewriter font style is absolutely dreadful to read because of the frequent uneven spacing between letters.

Overall I rate the book How to Be Successful: Think like a Leader by M. Curtis McCoy 3 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who wants to make a success of their lives, whether you are a business owner or not. Everyone can take at least one note from this book that when applied could have a positive impact in their lives.

It was a genuinely uplifting read and I would gladly pick up a hard copy of this book...once they fix the typewriter font.
