Review by Brittanyc002 -- Was I To Blame? by B.W.Knight
I read the book Was I To Blame written by B.W Knight. This book was about a woman named Angie, that followed not just her marriage but along side the life of her interaction with her friends. Her and her husband had mostly a very rocky marriage. They had two children that she adores and took great care of. She and her husband spent a lot of time fighting when they seen each other. She told her friends a lot of her marriage issues and took their input as well.
Angie spent a lot of time with her friends instead of truly working out the issues I’m her marriage. The couple fought almost to the very end. They never had many caring words and her choice of argument always came because he drank all the time and stayed out late. She helped her friends a lot as well. They leaned on her in their hard times as well. They had some bad tendencies of getting into other people lives when theirs were not in very good order either. The couple had a lot of secrets they hid from each other but those secrets when they were told made this book what it is.
I would give this book a total of three out of four stars. I give this rating because it did keep me hooked for the most part. I didn’t give it four because of the simple fact that I felt like it jumped around a little to much in example your reading and it’s the present, then all the sudden there is a flashback. Then a chapter later your 3 months from before the flash back. I didn’t care much for feeling it jumped around so much. I felt giving the book a rating of a two would be to low because it did keep me very hooked and from putting it down really.
As previously stated I did not like how the book skipped around time was so much. It was a little to much back and forth for me. I did however like that her and her friends act like detectives and that they do have some fun through the book. She was given the impression so cared for and loved her children very much. I like how the book is very situational because there are a lot of people out there that suffer from verbal abuse all the time. That’s the kind of abuse that goes unnoticed mostly. It makes it a bit of an eye opener.
I feel that this is not entirely a young adult book as much as it is for mostly adults. I don’t feel that young adults would be able to relate to this book as much as an adult may be able to. I feel they would get very bored with it in a matter of time. The adult audience could relate more and find the book a bit much for a young adult reader. This book seems to be very well edited. I say this simply because I noticed very little mistakes through the book.
