The Cadence of Excellence: Key Habits of Effective Sales Manager by Matthew McDarby is a short book trying to say something concerning sales. I first thank heaven for finally I have managed to read the book. I selected the book because I had some questions concerning sales and I thought the book will have the answers. Its pages were just few thus best for my tight schedule but I was surprised with what I found in the book.

We know that all the books starts with a cover page but for this special one the cover page is in the last page. And since am not such type of a person to give up such fast, the error alone was not strong enough to keep me from enjoying the book. And so I started to read just to find the 96 pages stated in the book description may end up some good 192 pages. This is because every page had two columns and there is no good reason as to why the author decided to use such a complicated book arrangement.

I continued to read the book trying to understand what the book was about. I think it is revolving around some kind of interviews with few sales leader where the author is outlining some few strategies they used to solve some rising issues in their profession. The book also has some questions that sales leaders should ask themselves and even some spaces to answer those questions. I think, this book is to be marketed more of sales people’s questionnaire booklet.

I rate this book 1 out of 4. I give it this rating because no lower one acceptable. The book failed to explain the cadence of excellence in marketing in a more impressive way. It failed to solve the problem that made me choose the book. Even though no visible grammar mistakes, explicit content or religious discrimination, the arrangement of the book is a big turn off. Also the creativity used is shallow enough to make the book be considered a-not-very-engaging book.

This book can only be recommended to be read by sales persons only. They maybe in a better position to understand the concepts in this book. Personally I failed.

I will also recommend the author to go back to the edition stage of this book. It will be wise for him to look for more sales leaders and interview them if that is the only way to get more content for his precious book. Then, he should look for a professional editor to design the arrangement of the book. Afterwards, he can bring back the book for further review.
