Evolution’s Edge by J. K. Pascall and Aaron E. Davis is a fiction novel with a captivating storyline. It follows the journey of the two hundred and fifty year old protagonist Cheveyo. Cheveyo is a subconscious being who is the leader of his clan and ruler of his sector within the void.

The story takes a twist when Cheveyo’s life intertwines with that of a mortal named Kevaughn after his presence becomes trapped in Kevaughn’s human mind. The two then venture on a journey in-order to find answers surrounding their connection. Along the way they encounter multiple unique characters, all who have been well developed and detailed by the authors.

Something that really fascinated me about the novel was the unique setting. It’s set in a place called ‘the void’ which is “a place that was said to anchor the energies of twelve systems, itself being described as the thirteenth.” The void is said to be located on the dark side of matter, and not exist on the physical plane. This really enriched the story and made it more enthralling.

Another aspect of the story that I really enjoyed were the fight scenes. They were well written and the descriptions painted a very vivid image.

This book does not fall into the category of novels I would usually read, but nonetheless I found it quite fascinating. Overall, the book was very detailed, unique and thrilling. The author’s use of figurative expressions such as personification as well as a fascinating storyline made it hard to stop reading. For these reasons, I rate the book four out of four stars. Evolution’s Edge is suitable for those who enjoy reading science fiction stories.
