Exploring new places and learning about them often feeds our curiosity, but what if the world is full of magic and secrets? Are you a fantasy lover who loves to explore different dimensions by just sitting in your favourite corner? Then grab your seat, because you are gonna go for a magical ride. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is the first book of the We are Voulhire series written by Matthew Tysz. The book introduces you to a fantasy world that is gigantic and mysterious on its own. When you discover what lies behind the magic, is the outcome worth it?

The story revolves around Galen, a young man from the Lands of the Princes, who comes to know about his unknown uncle, a successful blacksmith in Magnum Caelum, a part of Voulhire. He inherits his wealth and is set to travel. The prospect of travelling away from his homeland gives him an out from the war, which always surrounds him there. Upon arriving, he is met with Roman, his uncle's executor, who helps him settle down there. Galen finds a trustworthy friend in the executor, and they set on their path of a budding friendship and revealing the darkest secrets of this enchanted world.

The story will make your head swoon with its narration of the places and people. What made me excited the most was the side stories, which kept adding to the plot. This made the story more gripping but also fed the hunger for a thriller in me. The different cultures in the provinces, the other kind of people you meet like the mages, biomages, monks, bawlers made me fall for the plot even more. The narrative of the king is also something I enjoyed while reading. The bond that develops between the characters made me smile ear to ear. Also, Meldorath, a powerful mage, reminds me of the evil villain who makes you hate him even if he is not present in the story. The way the author writes his characters and plot reminds me of the Harry Potter series.

The thing I disliked about the book was that I find the story plot slightly unclear. The author could also have worked somewhat more on the character development to make the story more enticing. Overall the story is very well edited and is an epic fantasy teller.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars due to its slightly confusing plot and lack of character development, which made me a little disappointed. There is the use of abusive language, which makes it suitable for teenagers above 17. The book is a gold mine for fantasy lovers. I would love to read the other instalments in the series too.
