3 out of 4 stars.

This is a very different type of vampire story, one of which I haven't read anything like before. I found this story to be very clever, clever enough to warrant almost a full 4 stars from me. I enjoyed that it felt like I was being read from someones journal, however I didn't like when the narrator mentioned regret in the moment as it pulled me out of the story. In saying that, I never found the story lacking or filler and enjoyed learning about all the places Eric travelled. I found some issues with the pacing and felt it was lacking some of the character building that helps create an emotional character relationship, however I don't think that took away from the story, its simply a personal preference.

I can't say that I liked Eric, however he was such an interesting and complex character, he was never boring.

While I revived this book in exchange for an honest review, I will definitely be purchasing the rest of the series so that not only can I finish the series, but so I can support the author.
