[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: The Knights of Chalethire" by Matthew Tysz.]
Times are very tough now and people around the globe are stressed about the future. Some people are more worried and busier than others and it's hard to find time to relax. Luckily, books are a great way to calm down and they help relax your mind. Not only are they good for your brain, but there are a variety of books and series to choose from. One great series is the 'We are Voulhire' series.
The novel We are Voulhire: The Knights of Chalethire by Matthew Tysz is the fifth book in the 'We are Voulhire' series. In this book, additional characters are introduced, past cities are revisited, and new love interests start to form. Galen and his friends are now staying in Chalethire. They are still trying to find a solution for Virko and they turn to the Chalethire knights for help. Meanwhile, King Nartik is trying to remain in power despite several agents that are planning to overthrow him.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of the multiple great aspects this book contains. Characters like Galen are very enjoyable to read about because their perspective of the world is much different than everyone else's. It is also amazing to see how far Galen has come since he first arrived in Voulhire. He is no longer as naive as he used to be, but he still is a very innocent character compared to everyone else. I also enjoyed the addition of new characters like Renard Harper. I wanted to see more strong females in this novel series, and I was really excited when the author added her into this book.
I enjoyed this novel immensely and didn't find anything wrong with it. This book was exceptionally well written. What I liked most about this novel is the different layers it has, and the complexities of the characters. None of the characters (except for Galen) are solely good or solely bad. The city Voulhire is also seen as the best or most righteous city, but it also has a dark side, and this is shown in the novel. All the characters have their own flaws, desires, strengths, victories, and sins. This is what makes the book so realistic and relatable.
This book and the 'We are Voulhire' series is a great read for a variety of people who want to start a new book series. The characters in this novel do use profanity, so readers who don't enjoy books like that should read something else. Some of the scenes in the novel may be slightly erotic so readers should be able to handle that. This book does have characters that are homosexual or bisexual, so people who don't enjoy that kind of content should avoid this book. Overall, this novel is great for people who enjoy books that have themes of adventure, friendship, family, royalty, politics, war, romance, and more.
