The Secret of Magic is a very intriguing book. It started out slow but quickly grabbed my attention when the heroin was transported to a specific time in history. I love the way the author used the birthdate to interject historical events. This is not only a good history lesson, but a therapy session.
My opinion, this book should be recommended reading for all fifth and sixth graders.I believe that the children reading this book would gain insight to the history of our country. Also they can get an example of how they can change and/or contribute to history. The story gives an example of how everyday actions can change the course of your life and possibly change the course of history. I would rate The Secret of Magic a 4.
I was intrigued with the way the author used history to teach a lesson in life. Weaving the birthdates in the was actually quite unique. It was totally unexpected. I would definitely put this author on my "must read" list. It would also be a great gift for school age children. It may be an inspiration to het them to read more. Magic always seems to grab the attention of young children. It could open up there mind to believe that anything is possible. More stories like this should be available to young children. I hope this author has plans to write more stories as inspirational as this book.I would rate this book 4 out of 4.
Thank you,
