Review by emidio125 -- Rescued by E. Alan Fleischauer
Are you the kind of person who enjoys reading Cowboys and Gunmen stories? If so, then you must read Rescued by E. Alan Fleischauer, which is a western fiction novel that narrates the adventure of a man (a cowboy rescuer) named John Thurgood Thomas.
In the story, John Thurgood Thomas, a gunman cowboy known as JT, get stuck in a two-day heavy rain in the western plains of Colorado. And to protect himself from the rain, he finds shelter in a cave, from where he later saves four women who had been held captive by a wagon. From that rescue, JT engages in an adventure to protect the women he saved. Therefore, this journey will not be easy; joy and loss await JT and the other women in the course of their trajectory. And in the end, JT will remain true to his friends and deadly to his foes.
Because of a lack of accessibility to western books in the area that I grew up, I never read a western genre before. However, I met the western through the movies, and I always found them amazing; the cowboys, the gunfires, the persecutions, the wanted posters, the bounty hunters and so on. For all the aspects mentioned above, I chose to read this book. I wanted to see how the action from the movies was actually displayed in a book. Fortunately, the book didn't disappoint me. It had everything I wished to encounter and enjoyed reading each and every page of it.
This is a plot-based history, as it pays much attention to the events of the story rather than the character's description or else. But still, it's a great story; the storyline was really well worked out. I liked the drama behind JT and Annabelle's love, and it gave a special tone to the story. There's action from the beginning to the end of the story; you are not going to get bored while reading it, and you can read it all in one sitting.
There wasn't something I disliked. However, some of the events in the story happened so fast that I had to reread some passages to see the point at which an event was connected to the other. Furthermore, I would not recommend this book to a younger audience due to the violence it portrays. Therefore, I recommend it to all western fiction lovers, all suspense and mystery lovers. And to everyone who enjoys reading a good story. And being this the first book of the author, I congratulate him.
Going forward, the book was very well edited. Although I found some mistakes, I will not give this book less than 4 out 4 stars .
