We Are Voulhire: Someone Else's End is the second book in the ‘We are Voulhire’ series by Mathew Tysz. The story is progressing remarkably. After the implications and the chaos in Virko, the three heroes, Galen, Rowan and Demetrius decide to head to the city of Soulhire and pledge to King Wilhelm for help. Soulhire is the capital of Voulhire and the centre of the empire. In the meantime, Meldorath, another key character to the story, is now Eoidi in Yamon Soul and preparing for the next phase of his magnificent plan.

This book is marvellous and by far my favourite so far! I found myself always trying to predict the next scenario and how it will play out. First of all, the Emperor of Lullabies is no longer just a distant shadow to the future of the country but an actual threat. The book is packed with action and adventure almost from the first chapter. The story is weld smoothly with the two previous books. It has much more depth and some heroes from the first book also reappear in this one. One part I really enjoyed was the flashback on Galen’s past. I was long waiting to learn more about him. Galen has evolved the most as a character and as for the other two main heroes, I admire Tysz’s decision to put also Demetrius and Rowan to the narration’s seat. That is the best way to learn more about their characters, thoughts and background and most importantly an ideal way for the readers to connect with them more.

I was also pleased with the fact that the perils that threat Voulhire does not just come from one direction, which means that the plot will only get even more captivating as the story progresses. Certainly, Tysz does not disappoint with his writing.

On the other hand, I was frustrated by the fact that there are still no strong female characters. Since we are already in the third book of the series, I was really anticipating a female leading character. There were also some minor typos, but fortunately, that did not affect the reading.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars, mainly because of the lack of a strong female character. In my opinion, this book is more suitable for adults, who enjoy fantasy genre books. It has lots of compelling aspects worth exploring and I cannot wait to read the next one!

This seems like an excellent book except for the lack of female characters. Great review
