Dr. David Maloney, a veteran and a pharmacist, shares his experience of being treated for heavy metal poisoning and tells how he gained improved health and even regained some of his hair colour and how it led him to a more youthful appearance despite being in his mid-late sixties at the time of writing.

Chronic Heavy Metal Poisoning vs Your Health is written for the general reader, although since he is American he mentions research and facts relevant to those in America, such as where tests can be carried out and different laboratories. He writes mainly in the first person and includes diaries of symptoms, tests carried out, improvements in his health and deterioration. He mentions improvement in certain conditions such as high cholesterol and includes information on his wife Mary who found improvements in her high blood pressure. The book is around 245 pages when all the references are included and 179 when they are not.

What was good about the book was that it was well-written and seemed to be professionally edited. I did not come across errors in the text. He uses good language, and there was only one incidence of mild swearing. Other than that there was no profanity. He seems to write for the benefit of the reader and shares his experiences in the first person. This helps the reader to identify with him and especially those who experience similar health issues. He also includes the experiences of his wife and the diary entries of both of them, which helped to shed light into the causes and sources of heavy metal poisoning, and how can such poisoning be reduced. He mentions times their heavy metal levels increased and the reasons for that. It is good he mentions where and how to be tested, some treatments available and the costs. He also includes several chapters on sources of heavy metal poisoning and covers mercury fillings and the different opinions about them amongst dentists and research. This was quite useful since many people have such fillings.

I guess the only negative issues I thought to mention was that his diary entries could be a bit too detailed, and perhaps some readers would be put off by the mention of wanting to raise testosterone levels and other more personal issues. I also wondered if all of his conclusions were correct and if his hair grew back and had more colour because he was lowering these heavy metals in his body or because of taking high levels of biotin, which is a vitamin that improves hair and skin conditions, preventing hair fall encouraging growth and helping to maintain the hairs natural colour. While I am not an expert and the writer could be correct in his interpretation, I felt to mention this to the reader.

The book, however, was a useful and informative read that had been well-researched and well-written, and the writer seemed to want to help others to know about heavy metal poisoning and how to deal with it. I felt it deserves four out of four stars since this information is beneficial for all of us to know.

I assume that it would interest people looking for non-fiction, alternative health and self-help books. People who have health problems where there is some mysterious underlying issue may also benefit from reading it.

The book does not contain any profanity or adult scenes and so is suitable for all age groups, and is suitable for the general reader who is perhaps looking for advice or a solution. However, it is mainly based on America and so may not give advice to people living in other countries and sources and treatment of heavy metals may be different in other places.
