The thrilling novel starts with part one in which Benjamin Poe, a fireman, is in prison for killing his only son, Gabriel. The date of his death penalty is approaching fast, but he has no hopes of getting out anymore. Poe tells his story to Pierce Beaudoin, his lawyer. The lawyer doesn't seem to believe him at first, but he realizes it's the truth. Benjamin was just an ordinary man, who wanted to keep his wife happy and see his son become successful, but as events unfold, he starts to see who his son really is. It was even odder to see a man, Crighton, appear with glowing green eyes who had come to take his son's soul. Will he do everything to keep his son, or will he give him up?

The story progresses to part two in which Crighton, the devil's best soul catcher, has the mission to find an angle, Ariel, and feed her soul to the devil. However, things take an unexpected turn when they are both captured by human scientists. Will Crighton be able to kill Ariel? Or will he face Lucifer's wrath due to the budding romance between the two? What other surprises will Crighton face?

The questions don't stop there. I am anxiously waiting for a sequel! Kaylin McFarren has done an excellent job in writing the different characters. She managed to write the rage in Crighton very well. The personalities develop wonderfully, and the novel doesn't get boring at any point. My favourite part of the book is the way the two parts are so different from each other, yet tie together towards the end. Even the writing style was very captivating. Writing fictional beings is not easy, yet McFarren achieved that very well. There is nothing I dislike about the work. The author has done an incredible job in writing the Soul Seeker. The romance and love scenes in the story are expressed with a lot of emotion, drawing the attention of the reader.

I failed to find any errors, making the reading more pleasurable. There is profane language in the book and also violence, leading to graphic descriptions, so I suggest the younger audience and those with a sensitive stomach stay away. Other than that, I would recommend this book to people who enjoy some supernatural mystery and thriller, with a spark of romance. It's the perfect book to curl up on the bed with some coffee!

I would rate the Soul Seeker 4 out of 4 stars. It doesn't deserve a star less as the story is extremely engaging, grabbing the reader's attention from the prologue.
