Burt Weissbourd's Danger in Plain Sight might very well be the next fast thriller you need to read. A restaurant owner with an incredible, and untainted, sense of right and wrong sees herself in the middle of a very complicated situation.

Callie James is a very uptight person that does not, under any circumstances, deviate from what she thinks is the correct curse of action. She will always do the right thing and no one can convince her otherwise. And the only thing she has to worry about is to get everything up and running smoothly in her French restaurant, every day by 5 p.m. That is until her ex-husband brings trouble literally through one of her restaurant windows.

Seeing herself dragged into a web of deception and danger, not being able to trust the police, Callie reaches out to someone she never thought she would see again: Cash, the former employee she put in jail a few years back. Completely different than Callie, Cash is very capable of bending rules when needed. Will Cash be able to help her?

This is a fast-paced story, where we don't have to wait an enormous amount of time to figure out what is happening next. That is one of the delightful things about reading this book: our answers are just around the corner. The characters are amazing and every single one of them is unique. Callie's character development is marvelous. That was one of the things I liked the most in this book. In general, the book is written in a very fluid and accessible way. The chapters are not very long which is another positive point.

Nevertheless how much I liked this book, the main conducting thread of the plot is a known one. Some parts of the story should have been a little slowed down, for our enjoyment's sake, and some character relationships should have been more real. A fast-paced story does not necessarily need to rush everything.

The strong point of the book is, without a shadow of a doubt, the amazing characters that add magic to the story and make it unique. I dare to say that it's like having an exotic zoo of characters in a book.

Given the last two paragraphs, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed this book for its simple plot combined with the fabulous characters. For people that like a little mystery, lots of things going on, and a fast read, this book is the right choice.
