[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
Inca is a 'gorgeous' Siberian cat with a snoopy nature. She refers to herself as the Queen of Kitties. She is the head of her detective agency. Other members of the agency are Fromage, Cara, Monk, Charlotte, Terrance, and Polo. They make up a formidable team. In Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi, Inca and her team keep the reader engaged with their adventures.
In this book, Inca and her family traveled to South Korea for a cooking competition. The competition was organized to restore peaceful relations between North and South Korea. However, Inca and her team got wind of a problem that could jeopardize the noble intentions of the competition. To my delight, they were able to come up with an ingenious plan to solve this issue.
This book has both entertaining and educative features. Children can learn much from Inca and her team. They can learn to be helpful and attentive to the needs of others. They can also learn about effective teamwork.
The narrative was written in simple and flowing language, and the personalities of the characters in the book are consistent. Fromage is a cheese lover; Bo-Mi is quite vain, and Inca has a very high opinion of herself. These varied personalities make the book interesting and humorous.
For me, the major highlights of this book are the illustrations. The pictures are bright, colorful, and expressive. They bring the story alive. This is what I love most about this book.
I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally edited. Kristi has done an excellent job. I have no reason to deduct a star because I do not have any dislikes about this book. It was awesome. Children can learn about existing conditions in North and South Korea. I would recommend this book to children between the ages of 4 to 9 years of age.
