Review by Bonang11 -- We are Voulhire: A New Arrival und...
[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
Matthew Tysz takes us through an amazing series called We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies . It is a fantasy novel set in different places but based in Voulhire country. It is an ongoing series. Some of his books include The Truth, The Last City of America and others.
The Emperor of Lullabies is wise and wicked ruler of a vast and powerful nation. Through his wisdom he realised that his sons wanted to overthrow him from power and he came to a decision to allocate kingdoms to them, a place known to others as lands of Princes. The events take place during the reign of a compassionate King Wilhem, with good intensions for his people. On the other hand his co-rulers have evil and inhuman intensions against Voulhire and the people. There is an influence of magic, casting of spells, physics and war around the events in this book. On the other hand, a young handsome man journeys to Voulhire, Magnum Caelum. Galen is to inherit his uncle's inheritance through the help of young Rowan, his uncles executor and who later becomes his best friend. All that Galen knew was how to survive since war started when he was little but destiny has other intentions for Galen from the land of Princes.
The author managed to get away with capturing my mind. This book made me laugh out so loud. The author also managed to make me feel sad and frightened. As the book contains horrfying and hurtful scenes. For example there is a scene of a woman having a half chopped face and blood gushing out of her nostrils. Another scene of children engaging in fart parties, rape through pedophile practices by co- rulers of Voulhire. The book contains little instances of profanity. Overall the book is amazing and the author did a good job.
This book is a good read and well edited, with the exception of few spelling errors. My favourite characters are Galen, simply because he is an interesting individual with a grateful heart. Another character is Rowan, who is more of a joker and also a focused individual. Finally, king Wilhem who is very compassionate and wise. Things that people might like about this book is, the reference page at the end which explains words and phrases used in this book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 because it is a good read and entertaining. Despite the spelling errors, I noticed which did not spoil my reading experience, this book is amazing. Another reason is the reference page which gives explanations to words and phrases in this book and the ancient map which showcases places created by the author. I highly recommend this book to anyone especially fantasy lovers.
