We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first installment in the We are Voulhire series. It introduces us to the mysterious and powerful land of Voulhire ruled by a law-abiding King Wilhelm, a smart but pedantic philanderer Chancellor of Mianoran, a very powerful imprisoned Mage, and a humble former judge of Soulhire which is the capital of Voulhire and so much more.

The story then begins with a, "Once there lived a wise and wicked ruler of a vast and powerful nation. Throughout the world, he was known as the Emperor of Lullabies," tale of the Emperor of Lullabies and his four sons. He feared that his sons would not conspire against each other but together would conspire against him, 'like good brothers'. So, to avert this disaster, he gave each prince a land to rule, but as time went by and the brothers grew old, chaos and civil war among the siblings for power prevailed for twenty years on.

This is where we meet our main protagonist, Galen Bray, who finds an opportunity to escape from the Land of Princes where one's fate is either "death by the sword, or a slow starvation," and departs to Magnum Caelum, a quiet town in the Kingdom of Voulhire to inherit his Uncle's business. There he meets his Uncle's executor, Rowan, and their friendship blossoms throughout the story. What Galen doesn't realise is that there is much more to Voulhire then it seems. But, is the naive immigrant prepared to unveil the dangers of Voulhire with his companions? Read to find out!

I loved how the Author, Matthew Tysz, included a map of the kingdom of Voulhire in the beginning of the novel to visualise where everything is taking place and where the characters are heading to. Secondly, Mr. Tysz included a Glossary in the very beginning and at the end of the novel. It really helped me to know what each word meant so I would strongly recommend to read the Glossary first. For an example, Cathidien means Palace and the home of the King and his family, and the Mianoran Council and their families. Cathidien Palace is the tallest building in Voulhire.

This book was well edited and I did not find any spelling and grammatical mistakes which is an A plus for the professionalism! There was some presence of profanities in the book. Some mild sexual humor were also present, but the book does not contain extremely graphic scenes which I believe is okay for the young readers. But, for people who feel triggered with some mild sexual references, this book might not be for them.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the book and did not find anything to dislike. I am honestly looking forward to reading the second series of We are Voulhire since the ending was left in a huge cliffhanger. I rate this book a solid 4 out of 4 stars! Worth the read, I promise.
