It's sad how staying in a toxic environment can change the character of even the strongest person. One is left with almost no choice but to submit. This is the state of slavery, you fight until your willpower gets drained its a place I wouldn't wish for anyone. Lily confirmed to her situation by being meek and docile for survival. I would love to learn if she rose in spite of the challenges. Great review

Indeed, slavery is definite dehumanization. The author compares slavery to a prison sentence, but I find that prisoners have a much better life than any slave ever did.
