Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren is a mystery, supernatural book. Its main themes are romance and family. In the first part of the book, we meet Benjamin Poe, a devoted husband, loving father, and hard-working firefighter. Ben’s only daughter died at a young age under mysterious circumstances. He is left with his wife and his son Gabriel. After his daughter’s death, he lives to blame Gabriel for it. He can sense the darkness in Gabriel. He and his son have a difficult relationship which in turn affects his relationship with his wife. But all these family disagreements are nothing compared to the challenge that comes his way when Crighton enters their lives.

Crighton is a demon from hell. His main duty is collecting wicked souls for Lucifer. He is Lucifer's best soul catcher. Crighton arrives at Lochton town to collect an overdue debt from Benjamin's family. The soul seeker has come to take Gabriel’s soul. He warns Benjamin against interfering with his work but Ben is willing to go to any extent to protect his family. How he goes from being a loving family man to being the most hated and feared criminal in his town is a mystery that kept me hooked to the book from beginning to end.

In the second part of the book, we are given more insight into Crighton's personality. The writer takes us to Crighton's everyday life in hell. We see a soft and vulnerable side when he falls in love with Ariel, who is an angel. He is forced to run away from hell with his mother to escape Lucifer's wrath. He and Ariel are both fugitives from their homes. Crighton does all he can to protect her from the dangers that surround them.

What I enjoyed most about the book was the well-packaged mysteries in the book that kept me glued to the pages. The characters were believable and relatable. The author did not try to create perfect characters. They all had their strengths and weaknesses like everyday people.

The book had a few erotic and graphic scenes which might not be suitable for children or sensitive readers.

The book was professionally edited as I did not find any errors. I rate this book at 4 out of 4 stars. It is a book that every mystery lover should read. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy supernatural literature and forbidden romance.
