Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren is a Paranormal thriller novel with bits of romance, horror, violence, mystery, and action. It cuts through a wide range of genres. It is a book about good and evil. The author conveys a point that there is a good element in every being or situation.

The book is divided into two parts clearly stated as; part one and part two, with a total of 38 chapters. The first part tells us about Benjamin Poe, who is a firefighter in the city of Illinois, while the second part focuses on Crighton, a soul-catching demon, who happens to be Lucifer's best soul-catcher.

In part one, Benjamin Poe’s son, Gabriel, is linked with numerous crimes, and Crighton comes for his soul, but Benjamin Poe tries to defend his son, and somehow, Crighton tricks Benjamin into committing a crime. Benjamin is arrested and is placed on death row. He confesses to his lawyer the events that led to the crime. Now, does Benjamin deserve to be executed, and what crime did he commit? In part two, Crighton continues his manipulation and soul-catching duties for Lucifer, he is given a new project to capture an angel, but unfortunately, he is captured by the sovereign sector, a group that carries out experiments on supernatural beings. He is locked up with the very angel he was asked to capture, and their souls become connected. Did they fall in love? Does he deliver the angel to Lucifer?

I really enjoyed reading this book. There was no loss of interest while reading the book as it was aptly drafted without any unnecessary scenes. I was pleased to see a well-constructed poem titled ‘the collector’ with an excellent rhyming scheme just at the start of the book, giving the reader an idea of what the book is about but not spoiling it for the reader. McFarren also included a table of contents, which gave me an overview of the book’s content and organization, which made it easier for me to resume my reading after breaks. Honestly, there was nothing to dislike about the book.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. The book was professionally edited. I only found just one minor error, which didn't distract me while reading. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, especially the relationship between Poe, his wife, and son, and also that of Crighton and Ariel. The characters are well built. One can visualize them while reading. There are also plot twists, which made me very anxious to finish the book and find out what transpired at the end. There are murder scenes, which some readers would not find appealing. Also, a handful of profane words were used throughout the book. Lovers of supernatural thriller would enjoy this book.

Thanks for your interesting review. This book sounds like two novels in one, as each part of it follows a different main character. I wonder if Benjamin is able to settle the score with Crighton.

I love the premise of this book. It explores topics in which I am interested. It is also worthy to state that your review is detailed. Since it can also act as standalone novel, I won't mind reading it.

It sounds like this book is right up my alley! I love the idea of demons and angels interacting with humans and I’m curious to know Benjamin’s fate!

This sounds like a interesting and odd book. From your description I'm not sure if I would like it. Are the two parts separate stories or are they the character's perspectives of the same events spilt into two parts?

The two parts are not separate stories but rather, part 2 is a prequel to 1. I believe the author separated the parts because each part could be read as a stand alone.
