We Are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko is the second book out of a series written by Matthew Tysz. This second book continues to open a new world that is eager to be explored by any reader who is awaiting a new adventure. The world this book is based in is unlike any world you would have previously encountered, because it contains magic of all sorts and portrays different avenues of good and evil. There is a new formed friendship of the most unlikely sort.

We Are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko has too many positives to relay in one book review. One major positive is the amount of amazing imagery Matthew Tysz uses in all aspects of the book. There is vivid detail in outlining something as simple as a room the characters are in to the violence and grisly details throughout the book. The author does an amazing job by counteracting the violence seen throughout the book by also portraying positives, such as an unlikely friendship or romantic relationships.

It is difficult to write any negatives for this book because it is very captivating to read. However, unlike in the first book, this book does not have a map nor a reference section for unknown vocabulary. I would count this as a negative because I used the map and reference section in the first book to help me navigate the new vocabulary and orient myself to the new places that were created.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. We Are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko gets a perfect rating because it is that good. It is clear that the author has thoroughly created a new world and is eager to release it to the masses.

I would recommend this book to any reader. Especially one that is ready to start a new adventure. However, I would suggest starting with the first book of the series because many of those characters and events flow over to this book. In this book good and evil is explored through many different aspects. The author does a good job making the reader question whether good or evil should prevail in any given circumstance. This dynamic induces the reader into wanting to engage and continue to the read the book as fast as possible to discover other hidden agendas the author has in store. There is some religion but not enough that I would discourage other readers from picking up this book.
