One Way or Another by Mary J. Williams is about the Benedict women. The mother, Billie, has four daughters. Andi, Bryce, Calder, and Destry are more than just sisters, they are best friends. Billie being married and divorced six times, and having four children by four different men, contributes to the Benedict women having a hard time in the love department. None of them saw or spent much time with their father’s and they didn’t have a great example of what a partnership should be like. Part of the problem was that they were extremely wealthy, which made it hard to know who was interested in them for their money or for who they were. Billie keeps her daughter’s on their toes when it comes to her love life and their fortune, which can only be left to a male heir. When Calder meets Adam Stone, she has some trust issues. Adam doesn’t let this stop their relationship from growing. Adam and Calder enjoy each other’s company and let life take them on a ride to discover what real love should be like. During this journey, is a little bit of mystery surrounding Billie and her life with men, and what their intentions might be with her and their family fortune.

My favorite aspect about this book was how vividly the author’s words could put images in my head. It was so effortless to see the story in my head along with all of the details that were described. The Benedict women live a very extravagant lifestyle, and it was easy to picture what that would have been like because of the author’s words.

Another aspect that I enjoyed about this book, was the way the author described Calder and Adam’s passion for each other. I was able to feel the passion and love between them without needing the author to get into the super steamy details. There were just enough words and descriptions to feel the connection between them without getting sexually graphic.

My least favorite aspect of this book would probably have to be that it started off a little slower than I’m used to. I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to enjoy the book based off of the first few pages, which is something I can usually tell right away. The start of the book made it hard to draw a conclusion about my overall feelings on how the book was going to go. I prefer to know where I stand right out of the gate.

Overall, this novel was enjoyable for me. It’s a good thing that there is a description to read for the book, because the cover was not that impressive. If I had to pick a book based off of a cover, I most likely would not have chosen this one. The cover, in my mind, doesn’t do the book justice. I adored the relationship between the sisters and the way they cared for the mother in spite of all of her flaws. They continued to look out for her as they got older, even when she hadn’t been the best motherly figure. The fact that all four daughters grew up so genuine and “down to Earth” with the upbringing they had, was a fun read for me. It made me feel more connected with them even though they were beyond wealthy and live a life not many others do.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because I really did enjoy this book. I was actually disappointed when I realized I had gotten to the end. This book is part one of a series, but is a stand-alone book. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys effortless romantic reading. The love story between Calder and Adam was sweet, but the book also had other storylines within the book as well to keep the readers hooked. If you like love stories, sisterly bonds, and a little intrigue, this book is perfect for you.
