I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was fantastic, I could not put it down. If it were possible, I would give this book a 5-star review. I had very little issues with this book. It was exceptionally written with no errors that I could find. It also made me feel as though I was experiencing what was happening because of the beautiful detail the author put into this book. There is no better way to explain it, this book was magical.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is filled with magic, mystery, and action. The introduction to the story gives some clarification about what the reader can expect to read throughout the story. It continues to switch from person to person as the events unfold. The story begins with the background of a small community within Voulhire called Hillport. There is some conflict between the current lord and the magistrate. Quickly, the magistrate becomes the new lord, however, it does not last. He is arrested and supposedly dies before he can stand trial. The story then shifts the Galen, who lives on the island of the princes. He is traveling to the very town of Magnum Caelum. Throughout the story, he travels with a financier to learn the ways of the mainland. King Wilhelm is beloved by all his subjects. Just like most politicians, he keeps a lot of things hidden for the betterment of Voulhire. There is also a group that failed to be taken out by King Idus, who initially brought everyone together and created Voulhire. This group, known as Riva, had been building their members so that one day they could rise again. Another key factor in this story is the former magistrate and lord of Hillport. He was trying to connect the two universes, the Cosmos and the Caromentis. The Cosmos is where everyone, meaning people in general, live. The Caromentis is where the magic realm is. This is where all mages draw their power from. Everyone of these aspects come together to give the reader an unexpected ending.

There are quite a few players in this story that contribute to the ending of the book. Everyone plays a part, no matter how small. Galen is seemingly just a young man who is too naïve for the mainland, however, there is more to him than the readers get to know. I have a feeling that Galen will become an important player in this story further into the saga. I can not wait to see how this plays out in the next book. I shall anxiously await the chance I have to read it.

This entire book was exceptional. I loved reading every page. There is something in every chapter that makes me want to keep reading. I personally love magic and fantasy. I believe this is one of the best fantasies I have ever read. The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that I felt my favorite side character died before they had time to even try to win over the reader. I will not say who my favorite side character is, but I do wish they had lived, even if just until the next book. That being said, I still really enjoyed reading this book.

Due to the magical and worldly aspects of this story, I am not sure if it would be reviewed so highly by someone of strict religion. I know a few people personally who will not read anything to do with magic due to their religious beliefs. There is little sexual content in this book. Some instances of pedophilia are described and mentioned, but there are no intimate scenes. While there is also some profanity used, it is not to an extreme amount. As I have stated, it was a great read and I wish everyone would at least give it a try. Some may enjoy it more than others, as expected with every book. I do hope that others that enjoy reading fantasies such as this give it a try as well.
