[Following is a volunteer review of "What's Your Favorite Color?" by Amber L Lassiter.]
Imagine the feeling of being a kid and having the free spirit to discover new things? Well, that is the nostalgic feeling I had reading this book. What’s Your Favorite Color? by Amber L Lassiter is an educative children's book. In this book, we see how a girl, Amber tackled painting in an art class. She engages in a painting lesson with her classmates, despite having forgotten her watercolors. The story has a touch of suspense in it. During the art class, Amber borrows colors from her friends to finish her painting. However, none of those colors turns out to be her favorite. The book ends with Amber’s exciting discovery of how to create her favorite color.
The storyline is very captivating and interesting. The story will easily pique the interest of any young reader. The author's illustrations are very beautiful and show professionalism. Also, the style of text used is one of a kind. It stands the book out among similar books like this. This characteristic would surely make it interesting for kids.
I love how descriptive the author was with the children's reactions during the art class. You can actually see through the words and imagine her descriptions. This book is not only a storybook. It is an educative read for the younger generation. The reader will learn to be innovative and supportive of friends.
There is nothing not to love in this book. The book was professionally edited. The illustrations are neat and very clear in their message. Not many books can deliver design and book content representation perfectly. This book is just flawless and as such, I rate it four out of four stars.
I would highly recommend this for kids who are in their 8th-10th grade. However, they would require a parent or teacher while reading it. I noticed some high-level words such as glistening. They would need an adult to understand the words and enjoy the book better.
