How is a mobster, attempting to escape from crime, connected to these pearls? Discover the twists and turns of burglaries, secrets, second chances, and so much more.

Diamond and Pearls by Julien Ayotte is a captivating and compelling fictional novel. The book consists of 278 pages with 28 chapters. Overall, it is a very easy read, yet very intriguing. There were a variety of compelling plot twists and turns, in which continuously captivate the reader. However, there were also a few sexual jokes, featuring crude terms.

In this novel, I appreciated several different aspects. First, I enjoyed the integration of the side story of mobsters and their life of crime. Especially, the remorse and second chances heavily featured throughout their story. All subplots were very well written and illustrated a new element of the main plot. The main plot benefited from every side character and subplot in this novel. Therefore, this subplot captivated me as a reader and elevated the novel to a whole new level. I also appreciated the author’s knowledge of pearls that he heavily utilized in this novel. I learned a variety of new information about pearls. I did not know that there were different types of pearls, or that size, texture, and color affected the price of a pearl. The process of retrieving and collecting pearls is very fascinating. Nevertheless, it educated me in a variety of knowledge about pearls. The author clearly did his research, and it paid off in his book.

There was nothing I did not enjoy about this book. It was written very well, and it contained mystery, romance, suspense, and so much more.

I personally rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This novel is impressive and exceptional. I did not find any typos or grammatical errors, therefore, this novel does seem to be professionally edited. I could not find one negative point in this novel. There were a variety of compelling plot twists, which elevated a story in a whole new way. However, because of the crude humor, I would only recommend this novel to adults. If you enjoy suspenseful crime novels and second chances at life, with mobster crime intertwined, this would be the book for you.
