Review by OBC Reviewer -- Please Don't Tell Cooper He's ...
Cooper is a dog (but don’t mention it loud, otherwise he might get upset). He was adopted by a family from a dog shelter and was treated as one of the family members. He was well mannered, not as a dog but as a human. He despised acting like a dog and got puzzled by the way that the other dogs behaved. One day the family members tried to convince him that he is a dog. This made Cooper upset, and what he did next was the least that the others expected.
Please Don't Tell Cooper He's A Dog by Michelle Lander Feinberg is a children’s book written to teach the kids how to love and care the animals. It is a small book comprised of only 30 pages. The story is narrated in a poetical manner along with the beautiful illustrations, which gives an elaborate version of what is told in words.
As a children’s book, I noticed many plus points regarding this book. The story is simple, and it is written using a simple language. Yet, it gives out a very strong message. It portrays how much value even a pet gives for being cared with love and affection. Since all the pages are filled with colourful illustrations, even the young children who cannot read can enjoy this book equally by appreciating the illustrations. As it is written in a poetical manner, parents can sing this book to their children. The editing is done exceptionally well, and I did not detect even a single error. I highly appreciate that, since I believe that children’s books should be free from errors.
The only negative point that I would like to highlight is the letters being quite small. Since it is a children’s book, I believe it would have been better if the font size was a bit bigger. And in some pages, with the background colours, they become a bit difficult to see at once. But these were not significant enough to reduce my reading pleasure.
Therefore, I would like rating this book with 4 out of 4 stars. This book will be a perfect recommendation for the kids who love pets, especially for those who love dogs. And also parents can utilize this as a material to explain their kids the importance of loving and caring the animals.
