[Following is a volunteer review of "A Bloody Book" by Chris Bowen.]
Reading a book that connects to real life is remarkable, reading a book that keeps you into deep thought, reading a book that prevails mysteries is tremendous.
When I chose A Bloody Book by Chris Bowen, I had no idea what the book will entail, the title alone kept me intrigued when I came across the synopsis of the novel, It seemed different from other novels, I wanted to know Maxx's story, I wanted to know his experiences.
The novel starts with Maxx a thirteen-year-old, he was given an assignment by his teacher Mr.Foxx what made him not give a crap about school or anything, though his assignment was few years late, he completed it. The novel is a mix of emotions, drama. I almost cried while reading this novel, Maxx at a very young age went through a lot, he lost both of his parents at the age of eight, he had a two-year-old sister he had to take care of. I enjoyed the fact that the writer included comprehensive descriptions to explain Maxx's life, it felt like I was there with him when he went through all challenges. I felt sad knowing the fact that there are millions of children out there who are homeless, hungry, who have neglected parents.
The one thing I liked, the writer is informative, he told more about Maxx, it felt like the writer was speaking to his readers, it was remarkable how a novel could relate to what happening in the world today.
The one thing I disliked, I felt outraged that a young child was pushed to the murder of two, I wished Maxx was a little bit older.
I rate this book four out of four stars, the book is beautifully written and professionally edited. I would suggest this novel to mature emotionally strong adults, that are capable of reading a novel that softens the heart.
