Review by C Janet -- Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth
Rise of the Saviour: Acolyte of Truth by Antoine Bonner follows the life of Amanda, an eighteen-year-old normal girl. All she wants is to go to a university outside her state and see more of the world. Or maybe pursue a career in karate because she thinks she’s good at it. She survives a car accident with the help of a deity, only to wake up with the power to tell lies from truth. She is also able to summon guns from thin air. Isn't that awesome?
Turns out, she’s the current reincarnation of the acolyte of truth, and is destined to save the world. Not exactly what she wants, but then, destiny leads us where it pleases, right? Amanda is pushed into her role as a savior after Jamie, an acolyte of death, targets her six-year-old sister, Saira. Soon, her world is made up of deities, acolytes, secret agencies, with not a single shade of normal.
I liked how Antoine Bonner was able to give unique personalities to each of the characters, and although the characters are a lot, you cannot mistake one for the other. The book is fast-paced though. You might find yourself going back to when some of the characters were first introduced into the story to reacquaint yourself with them. I also liked the way Amanda’s family’s relationship was brought out in the beginning of the book. It’s as ordinary as any other family, you wouldn’t begin to guess what’s in store for them. Throughout the book, the characters would do anything for their families. We see it with Jamie trying to save his son. Love is also what motivated Amanda into being the hero everybody expected her to be.
If you do not know what a kundalini is, I suggest that you look it up before reading this book. That way, you’ll understand the book with much more ease. This is actually what I did not like about the book. Not all readers will think to find out the meaning, therefore not understanding the book to it's fullest. It kills me to have to say this, but that's one more word added to my vocabulary. That's how I know.
Although the book contains no sexual scenes, it is full of violence and contains profanities. It is therefore not suitable for a young audience. I rate it 3 out of 4 stars because I found more than ten errors. The errors are minor and do not interrupt the flow of the story. I recommend it to anyone who is interestedly in mythologies. Those who enjoy fantasy and action-packed stories will also enjoy this book immensely.

The story may overwhelm me a bit due to the mixing of paranormal and other stuff.
But for a fast-paced book, this one will be a thrill to read.
Thanks for providing advice on what to expect in the book.

It would seem so at first glance, wouldn't it? The guns... the acolyte of truth did have to physically fight. Thank you so much for stopping by!

True, since not everyone is well-versed in Hinduism, knowing what a kundalini is would help the reader understand the concept best. Like having background knowledge. It is not imperative though, I believe a person can still enjoy the story, maybe just not as much.
