We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz introduces the reader to a whole new world. The fantasy world is beyond amazing and it’s filled with magic.

Galen had the misfortune of living in a place called the Isle of Princes. The place is plagued by civil war and survival was the only thing the residents focused on. Papers from a stranger gave Galen his only chance to escape his homeland and start anew in a land that was prospering. The papers showed Galen that he had a dying relative in Voulhire and that he was the heir of the relative’s forge. Galen got a chance of new live and a chance to learn about the new land. He embarks on a journey to learn new skills and to meet new people.

The King of Voulhire appointed Judge Eldus Alderman and his family to help a struggling fisherman’s town. The trouble is that this specific fisherman’s town was plagued by shadows and has already lost two of their previous Lords to horrific perversions and illegal practices. It is quite a task to ask of the Judge, but he took it as an opportunity and with much optimism.

This book was extremely interesting and engaging. What I liked most about the book was that it was so easy to adapt to the new fantasy world and all of its characters. The story keeps the reader interested throughout with suspense, adventure and even humour. I loved how the land in the story had its own well thought out history and dark secrets. It also shows the reader of how people with different interests and abilities will think of themselves as superior to others. The best thing about reading the story is that you mainly follow the kind and humble Galen, who is also discovering the new land with you for the first time. It was a well plotted and intriguing story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I commend the author for doing such a great job.

There were no errors in the book that I noticed. It read easily and kept the reader’s attention throughout the book. The editors did a very good job with this book. There were no negative aspects in this book for me. I rate the book 4 out of 4 for being so amazing.

I would highly recommend this book for young adults that like fantasy books filled with adventure and magic. It would not be suitable for younger readers due to strong language and some sexual content.
