The author, Trish Ostroski is a woman who has led a life full of service to others. In this easy-to-read book, There’s a Rooster in My Bathroom!, she talks about general life hardships, struggles with job changes, difficulties with moving and so much more. By encouraging readers to overcome all of life’s difficulties, as well as taking on unexpected opportunities, she shows us how to use life lessons to help us learn to reach out to help others in our communities, neighborhoods and beyond. In doing these different things, she says the reader will have a more meaningful and fulfilled life. Given her writing style and with the random humor she adds in, this story will not only help the reader to grow personally, but will also help to make them overall happier as well.

The book begins by the author telling many things that happened in her life that were not only struggles but were also very meaningful for her. As the book progresses, it also turns into more of a self-help book with tips and lessons added, focusing on the reader, while sharing some of the author’s life experiences whether they were the good times or hardships. She shares a few events, such as; losing her condo in an earthquake, to her work in Los Angeles in theater and advertisement, and then on to her volunteer work in the Peace Corps. She talks about general life hardships, struggles and the lessons learned with job changes, difficulties with moving and much more. The chapters usually end with some kind of encouraging word to the reader to use in their challenges and life situations, to help them learn valuable lessons about how to succeed in their own life.

This book is very encouraging and supportive, in the way the author writes and how she makes the book relatable to everyone who reads it. The author had a very interesting way of captivating the reader in each chapter with her strategically placed wit, humor, use of quotes, intriguing knowledge tidbits and fun facts about various celebrities. The book has two basic purposes; it is an autobiography to leave a legacy to the author’s family history; and to be an encouraging self-help book for readers in general. The author has added photographs to help her tell her various stories about the meaning of life. Adding the photographs helped to make the stories more relatable and enjoyable. The photos that the author has included in the book adds a personal touch and helps the reader to be closer to the events she has mentioned as she goes along with her story. The reader gets the impression of a life that was well lived, as told through the photos and the written text.

Readers who enjoy autobiographies and self-help books will enjoy this book very much. Ms. Ostroski gives insightful quotes to the reader at the end of each chapter. These very helpful quotes could revolve around life, how to live a better life, how to help others, and how to take smart chances and make carefully planned risks in life. The book includes pictures of her adventures, plus very important people she met along her way and in her journey through life.

I feel this book would be a good read for anyone who needs some self-help information, but it would be more suitable and useful for the younger generation. Younger people can learn many life lessons and how to apply them as they grow older. I think everyone truly should read this book at some point in their life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading There’s a Rooster in My Bathroom!. It was funny, entertaining, and educational. I found it to be very helpful for different areas of my life. I could almost hear the authors’ voice as if I were listening to her speak directly in front of me. Because of these reasons, I would gladly rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I feel this book was exceptionally well-edited. I didn't notice a single typo or grammatical error or spelling error of any kind at all while reading. If you are looking for a different type of self-help book that’s entertaining, yet interesting and not boring; you may want to pick up a copy of this book and read it.
