Keeping something a secret can sometimes turn into more work and headaches than the secret may actually be worth. A Walk Through the Grapes by David Jackson is a light mystery thriller that tells the story of Grazer family; Jace Grazer being the main protagonist.

He came back to his home town from New York city after 2 years. He left behind everything (his family, his love) to chase after his dreams but returns unsuccessfully. Having the whole family back together a series of unexpected situations start happening. The entire Grazer family is keeping secrets from Jace. Totally unaware of the facts he started to look for the answers which lead him to mysterious places, secret dark rooms, dead neighbors and some unexpected and shocking truths. Will Jace be able to accept the truth and lead his family? What will happen to his messed up and tangled love relationships with officer Harper’s two daughters? Will he get back with the love of his life?

The author did an incredible job explaining the events and characters in detail. Each and every character is well developed and is very relatable. It was very easy to understand the mood and emotions of characters as well as the reason why they acted in a particular way.

The reason why I liked this book a lot were the great moral messages the book delivers. It shows the importance of family. Jace always got himself in trouble but how his family still supports him and try their best to keep him safe from all the mess he is responsible for. I sympathized with this fact the most.

The book was not boring, it was just a bit slow pace for me. The book enraptured me towards the end, like last 120 pages. I am fond of those books which captivates the whole me and instils the emotion in me. The book didn’t meet my expectation as I wanted a little more unexpected twists and turns.

For that reason, I would give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. The book was professionally edited. I found very minor grammatical errors. It’s written in simple language but it has sexual content and some violent scenes. This book would be perfect for readers who want to take a break from reading dark mystery, crime thrillers and want something light with a mix of mystery and romance.

This book has piqued my interest. Though I think, neither the title nor the cover does justice to what this story actually conveys. I would love to read this book. Thanks for the wonderful review.
