Generally, I enjoyed this book although it touches on deep themes like rape and domestic violence. Awesome review!

I loved your reference to If You Come Softly. I wonder if the author left Clarence's ending a cliffhanger on purpose? Thanks for your great review!

Yeah.. that may have been too much at age 11. Maybe the author just intended her to have that flaw.

Everything was great until that moment. 😩

Clarence is my least favorite character, so I wanted him dealt with accordingly.
I agree that it was disappointing.

I think it was minor, but it left a huge impact on me.

The only thing that bothered me was that it was over way too soon, I would have liked to know what happened after the last chapter. Nevertheless, this was such a heart-warming story! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this book!
Thanks for your comment!
I was overthinking about Clarence, so I also didn't notice that the story already ended. 😂

I also love the feature of many generations in this book.
A woman of every stage can relate to at least one of them.

cd20 wrote: 15 Jun 2021, 13:34 It sounded like an interesting read until I got to this book has "domestic violence and rape." I just cannot go there. I have not heard of Jacqueline Woodson either.
I think you will enjoy more of Woodson's book.
She wrote If You Come Softly .
It's clear of those triggers.
