Time is a constant. Nothing stays the same and for Jace everything seems to have changed, since he left to go chase after his dreams, and when he returns things are not at all what they seem on the surface. Jace is tired of being kept in the dark by his own family. He wants to know what secret everyone is hiding from him, and he is willing to go through great lengths to uncover the truth, but with many new discoveries, increasing mysteries and unanswered question will Jace ever find out the actual truth? What could possibly be so bad that even his own mother is compelled to not tell him the truth? Why do the police keep investigating his father? And where on earth is Dane? Who can Jace trust when it seems as if nobody's telling him the entire story.

I am someone who thoroughly enjoys mystery novels and I am usually able to solve the mystery before it is revealed but this time I was pleasantly surprised. A walk through the Grapes by David Jackson has a good story line behind it. The plot is somewhat interesting and the author did a fantastic job of making it completely unpredictable and gave us quite a shock at the climax of the book which is something I really enjoyed. I like the detail the author uses to describe places; it really brings the story alive.

While I did enjoy most of the book, what I strongly disliked was how everything seemed too prolonged. I feel as though certain events in the book were completely unnecessary as they didn’t increase the main character’s development in my opinion and just overcomplicated the story. I have found several grammatical errors such as spelling errors and left out quotation marks. Another issue for me was the abrupt changes in perspective. In certain points of the book we get used to a third point of view and then suddenly it changes to the main character’s point of view and I found it a bit of a challenge differentiating between the two. Another thing I believe would have made this book better was if there were more contractions in the sentences, I think that would make the overall flow of reading the book easier instead of every single verb and adjective individually broken down and separate.

Overall this was a good story but due to the above mentioned points I give this book an overall 2 out of 4 stars . Readers who enjoy crime, mystery and investigative novels should definitely give this book a try. I suggest readers who do not tolerate profanity and sexual content not read the book.
