This Bible of Middle Eastern political history in recent times, documents a catalogue of events that need to be preserved. It illustrates a beautiful future for all, irrespective of their beliefs. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah definitely proves this dream is possible if each side can see how the other lives in fear. On one side, they are deprived of their basic human needs and have their human rights violated, with all the sanctions and detentions; meanwhile the others have security fears of being bombed. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah articulates this wonderfully to a Jewish woman, how he would fight for their rights if they were of the same plight. Although he manages to get through to her with this heartfelt appeal to see how others are suffering, she remains tongue-tied.

It details all involved in the Middle Eastern peace process and how they played a part based on their own national interests and how it affected their stake in the plan. Everything is strategic, even for something as simple as peace. Nevertheless, the aim is the same for all.

A Dream for Peace is accurate enough to give details of the communications at the time. These could act as correspondence in future, with all that has been already said and agreed to. So it is more of a matter of honouring that commitment. This is much of the problem as nothing remains within the borders that were set by the UN and it has expanded since 1948.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah incorporates all this into his own national history in the fight for Algeria, to break it free from its French colonial past. It is never ending, as the French have their way and the resistance the other. Never the less, this book will be instrumental for what is decided in the future.

The great thing about A Dream for Peace is its conciseness on the insight it gives into the implementation of the peace process. It is also thoroughly edited and so easy to follow, as it flows superbly from one chapter to the next. There is nothing that can be criticised about this book. The target audience would be adults, male and female, who are involved in politics, particularly Middle Eastern politics.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
