[Following is a volunteer review of "Love, Grandma" by Ann Morris.]
Love, Grandma by Ann Morris is an exceptional children's book about a grandmother's time with her two granddaughters and all their exciting activities together. At the beginning of the story, Payton, the first granddaughter, dominates the narrative. Introducing Haley, the younger one, completes the cast of characters that are the main elements throughout the story.
With its easy-to-read format suited for children, this book will appeal to the readers' imagination and keep them interested. The well-constructed rhyme scheme that is dominant throughout the book is one of the many engaging factors of the book, along with the vivid illustrations that complement the text without hindering it. The book also manages to stimulate and encourage the children's creativity and imagination through the various activities performed by Payton, Haley, and Grandma. Incorporating the author's memories and experiences with her grandchildren into a story contributes to the content's emotional value even more.
The text is well compiled by Ann Morris as there are no mistakes or negative elements to point out. As previously implied, this is an appropriate and enjoyable book for children to read or listen to. The vocabulary used generally is perfect for the children to learn new words and their meanings, but not too much that they become disoriented or lose motivation while registering.
An indispensable attribute for such a book is an end moral or an enduring value throughout the book for the kids to learn, Ann Morris has made an excellent effort in this regard. It is also very carefully edited and has no grammatical or other particular errors to point out, which is a necessary feature for a book whose target demographic is children.
I gladly rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for being a well-written children's book that will firmly engage its target audience and stir up their curiosity.
