Review of How To Be Successful
How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy is a self-help book that discusses all aspects of becoming successful. It mainly addresses the issues of applying to business, prioritization, time-management, relationships and also self-awareness. The author shares incidents from his life and also converses with some successful leaders like Jeff Wobig, Paul B. Watson, Nathan Schulhof and some more.
The author shares his love for motivational talks and being around successful people. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and had just a few months to live. He had lost almost everything that he had built and possessed including his memories. His will of inspiring others made him contact leaders whom he admired. As an entrepreneur, McCoy discusses how to improve in business but he also emphasizes on the importance of health and relationships in life. His life teaches what being prosperous actually means.
Are you not happy with your job? Do you want to start a new business? Are you struggling with your busy schedule? Do you need advice on how to manage work and relationships together? How to sink your ideas with opportunities? This book answers all of these questions in a very simple and impressive way. The author introduced a different approach on self-improvement and achievement. On one hand, he advices to practice delayed gratification and on the other hand, he also suggests to reward ourselves. I personally loved the way McCoy has framed these two points in his book.
The conversations with those entrepreneurs and leaders kept me to reading. Basically, there are some sets of questions which they have answered. I was mesmerized by the fact that each one of them has a different view point on success, improvement, strengths and flaws.
There is nothing I did not like about this book. There are no profane words and it is also a very easy read. The author is very direct on what he thinks and has been very practical while discussing his values on life and business. Though the book is well edited, I did find some grammatical errors but it did not interrupt my reading.
I would rate How To Be Successful 4 out of 4 stars because it was an excellent read for me and I have learned some really important values about life.
I would recommend this book to people who want to organize their thoughts regarding business. I would also recommend it to those readers who prefer non-fiction.
