The Elfkin Journals: Blending of the Races is a science fiction novel written by JDeVereS. This is the first novel in The Elfkin Journals novel series. Its storyline is built in China and that explains why characters have Chinese names. The author makes a reference to one of the greatest war strategists in the history of China and uses one of his strategies in the storyline. It is built on many themes like hypocrisy, genetic research and love.

The Elfkin federation planets are infected with a plague. The federation council contacts Garith de’ Graoin's team of Misfits to find a solution to this problem. The team is made up of seven members and each member has a special ability. Rison has the ability to control mind stones. Ramas has the ability to read the future and he is also Garith's mentor. Garith is a gate master. Dell'r has too much strength. Muirisc is a shield bearer. Ala is a dream walker. Lannie is a healer and a gate keeper. The alternate universe is ruled by the Acolytes clan. They are dictators and corrupt. They forget their core values to maintain purity and preserve life established by their mother. Why should Garith and his team come to this universe? To know the reason just get yourself a copy of this science fiction novel.

The thing that I liked most about the novel was that its storyline was well developed. The author explains what happens before every event in the novel. The characters are also well developed. The author mentions all the important information about characters and how they reached their positions. The novel was lengthy but there was no time when I felt bored while I was reading.

There is nothing that I disliked about the novel. I liked how the characters use mind stones to link their minds together. The author emphasizes the need of first analysing data before making decisions. He also emphasizes the need to follow one's instincts when making decisions. The novel was well edited except for some few punctuation errors that I come across while I was reading.

I rate the novel 4 out of 4 stars because its plot creates suspense in the reader's mind. It lacks profane words. It also lacks erotic scenes. It is suitable for all audiences. I recommend it to readers of novels about space and planets. I also recommend it to readers of science fiction and fantasy novels.
