Fish Wielder. Thoral Mighty Fist, the main character in Fish Wielder doesn't actually wields fish; armed with Blurmflard a magic sword and Warlordhorse a horse ( a talking one), all lent to him by Yiz his wizard mentor and accompanied by his pet, Bradfast, a koi fish he saved from drowning, he heroically wields fist and sword in Grome, a mystical world of gnomes and elves.

When Thoral Mighty Fist set on a mission to find Walking-Door Tree and found it just after his son was born, something terrible happened. He stumbled into Grome and through magic learnt that his wizard mentor Yiz's cabin was attacked. Yiz, Thoral's wife and his new born son are killed. Thoral could have teleported himself to save them but forgot the magic words taught to him by Yiz, his wizard mentor.

Now stuck in Grome, Thoral embarks on an adventure that has taken him ages trying to find the Walking-Door Tree and has began to suspect that some one must have chopped it. But on the course of his adventure Thoral discover and rescue from an immortal sorcerer Necrogrond, Nalweegie the fair princess of Creekenvalley of elves and she falls in love with Thoral. Elfrod the king of Creekenvalley is grateful to Thoral and is not opposed to Nalweegie's newfound love but there is something that troubles him. His peoples, the elves to be clear, are being killed by some an unknown evil forces, he needs a hero to combat it. Thoral volunteers. In the process, Thoral comes to learn that Nancy, his wife whom he though dead is the Heartless One, the leader of the Bad Religion which had been working hard trying to eliminate him. But now, Nancy is no longer Nancy Thoral knew, she is now the evil Heartless One trying to kill him and is jealous of Nalweegie's romance with Thoral. But had she not escaped with the magic Blurmflard Thoral would not have come to know that the master planner of all this evil plan is none other than his wizard mentor. And Nancy who thought this was her plan is equally surprise. Much to Thoral's surprise, the wealthy Prince Sugarin to whom Princess Nalweegie was betrothed to save her father's kingdom from Bankruptcy is none other but his son he thought dead and he is now Yiz's son. Nancy is convinced that this is a dream, her dream, and a fantasy just like Alice's in Alice In Wonderland and other fairy tales. Thoral is not convinced for many reasons and because even after they wake up the koi fish is still talking.

With Fish Wielder, J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison has hit it. Expertly woven and highly gilded with humor, Fish Wielder is a foul mood dispeller. Something I suspect Hardison is upto against his readers.

I am a fun of fantasy stories and I am convinced that this book is a must read for people who enjoy fantasy and magical stories. It's fitting for young and adult readers' age groups. I also appreciate that this book is properly weaned of profane language.

In it's category I don't think it is a far fetched idea to highly rate this book. And so I give it 4 out of 4 stars as its befitting ratings. It's skillfully plotted, well-edited and upto its aim.

Fish Wielder is a three second fantasy that takes ages and never end at its end.
