Jane Grace: Library of light, written by Trace Sonnleitner, is set in a post-apocalyptic future where The survivors of Rubelle, who live in one of only six cities that have survived the world's most devastating war, survivors reminisce about the old world while attempting to survive in the new. The stories of the Chosen, on the other hand, instill hope in the survivors by promising to deliver them from their current condition. For a survivor called Jane Grace, the Watchers, the Chosen prophesy, and the city of New Atlantis all look like fairytales that are too good to be true. One guy, David Trimere, offers a new world, a New Atlantis, where survivors can flourish and rebuild, thanks to his brilliance and nanotechnology. Jane begins to think that the Chosen is real only after she is chosen by the World Council to tour the most magnificent city ever built beneath a megalithic pyramid made of multicolored, iridescent glass. Jane meets David Trimere, the man who built the world's most beautiful city. She sees the incredible powers of his advanced nanotechnology in different places of the megalithic pyramid.

Tempting as it may seem to Jane; her friends; Lander, James, and Henry question the motivations of the architect of this newfound paradise. When she meets James, her belief in the chosen one is further solidified as he carries with him a unique magical necklace that somehow enables travel from one place to another. There are lingering questions about who exactly could be the chosen one. With all these new discoveries revealed to Jane, Should they take a chance on this new existence, free of the challenges of a dying earth, or is there something more sinister lurking beneath the tempting freedoms of New Atlantis?

What I didn’t particularly like about the book is that basically, the whole book was a prologue, it was just setting the scene for the adventures to come so it was very mellow, lacked drama and it was a slow burn in that the storyline slowly builds. The main plot isn’t clear until it reaches almost the end of the book which then makes it pertinent that you read the upcoming books. A good comparison for the book is the season finale of a series.

Apart from the book being short and lacking in action, the author's expertise in penning this book was something I really loved. His detailed writing style has a natural flow, and I was able to delve beneath the skin of the characters, feel their emotions, and share their travels with them. The author's realistic depiction of the world in the novel is my favorite feature of the book. I like the attention to detail, which provided just enough information to pique my interest without being overwhelming.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars for the previous reasons given above. There is also a common spelling error that occurred four times in the book which was the only spelling error I encountered, the author mistakenly put “though” instead of “through”.

I highly suggest this book be read by people who love sci-fi. People who are huge fans of The hunger games series would gladly love the Jane Grace series as well.
