Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a suspense-filled action novel with great characters. Kelly McBride, a smart and charming woman, is the new bride of Sgt. Tom Turbulo, a Carson City Police. She is also the sister of the United States Senator, Mike McBride.
Kelly and her husband, Tom, had gone to a Caribbean Island, Honduras, West Bay for their honeymoon. Kelly had opted to take an excursion bus around the Island without her husband to check for suitable gifts for her nieces, nephews, mother, and mother-in-law. So, she entered a shop, where she stumbled upon a mysterious operation that changed the course of her honeymoon and put her life in danger. She called on her brother, Sen. Mike, for help when she discovered her husband wasn’t back from his boat cruise. Sen. Mike called his friend, Jo Rench, at the CIA for help. The romance, action, and suspense in this book make E M P Honeymoon a good read.
Dorothy May Mercer’s book keeps the reader at the edge with its twists and turns. As the story unfolds, many unexpected turns had me engrossed in the pages and praying it never ends. I love the suspense and the fact that the scenes were unpredictable.
Also, I love the interview of Dr. Peter Kinney, the professor of Nuclear Physics at the State University in Utah and Noble prize winner of physics. The interview explained what Electromagnetic Pulse was, what can generate it, and his discussion on superflare from the sun. I never knew such a thing as a superflare existed, and the fact that it had occurred on earth before is new to me. I also learned that everything is important, especially when it has to do with our security. The book is very entertaining, educating, brilliant and detailed. The story was well-researched and narrated, and I love how the writer detailed the building and assembling of the missile in this book. The book was generally enlightening and educating, especially on the evolution of science and technology.
There is nothing I dislike in the book. I enjoyed the interview of Dr. Peter Kinney and his explanations on Electromagnetic pulse. It made me realize the importance of electricity to our world today. The realization that civilization can disappear and that the world will go back to the dark age is scary.
I rate E M P Honeymoon 4 out of 4 stars because of the exciting yet educating plot. I observed a few grammatical errors in the book, but it did not disturb my reading experience. I recommend the book to readers who love science-fiction novels with suspense and romantic plot.
