[Following is a volunteer review of "The Redesigned Earth" by John T. Tanacredi, PhD..]
The Redesigned Earth by John T. Tanacredi was so timely in this time where Earth was filled of pollution and destruction from human careless activities. It sent an important and urgent message that needed to be heeded by the readers about the current situation of our planet. The balance of ecosystem was its paramount topic, and the main focus was the precious lives of living things that were on the verge of eradication. It drew vividly on reader’s mind the complicated and wonderful way living things did to survive. The different and unique way of reproduction and adaptation to their environment will make us aware how wonderful and mysterious life was. Within the pages of this book, we will witness how these wonderful creatures struggled just to continue thriving on this planet; it will touch our heart deeply. Furthermore, we will be fascinated of how ecosystem worked to maintain life’s equilibrium, but unfortunately it was on a verge of imbalances due to human’s crooked ways, which had brought hazard and adverse effect to the living and non -things. How could we save this planet from devastation was the main goal of this book. The message from this written work was a herald of enlightenment, and egged us to do our parts in preserving the wonderful living and non-living things of this beautiful planet.
The thing that I liked most was the vivid description of the life of plants and animals. How they adapted to their environment and foraged for food was fascinating. On hunting for food, the predators helped on curbing the increase in population of their prey. Overpopulation will lead to the shortage of food, until it will reach the threshold where nobody could survive from the scarcity of food. Then we will realize that sometimes hostile acts had a good purpose, like a predator eating its prey.
The other thing that I liked was it was so concerned about the ecosystem. The importance of ecosystem was more than anything else in this world. When time comes that the ecosystem will not be in the state of equilibrium, what kind of life awaits the younger generation? We cannot bear thinking that our children will live a scanty and hard life. Reaping the fruit of failure due to the carelessness and indifference of their ancestors was a very sad scenario.
The thing that I liked least was the symbols that composed the compounds and scientific terms; I found them hard to be digested in my mind. Anyway, it depends upon the kind of readers. Others may find it motivating and challenging.
This book is suited for the readers who taught Science; this was very helpful for them because there were plenty of knowledge from this book that they can impart to their students.
This is a unique book that talked about our planet earth, and how it was redesigned by the human mind. It was very deep and full of information; reading this thoroughly could make you fully understand the importance of ecosystem. I admired this book for this was full of essentials knowledge for the betterment of life here on earth. To make things easy, you needed to be well versed in scientific terms and symbols of compounds. Otherwise, you will have difficulty in comprehending this book. I rated this book 3 out of 4stars.
