Heroes of Atlantis by Ryan Carriere is a novel revolving around Greek and Norse mythology. We see the story through the main characters, Roeg and Sephonei. They face monsters, battles, and magical powers. When Roeg is saved by Unn, chief of the clan, it is unknown to them that he is a part of the Atlantean race. This different looking boy is bullied and judged for his physical appearance. They are unaware of the precious and powerful being he truly is. Sephonei, another strange-looking girl is rescued and proceeds to learn about her magical abilities. They are expected to hunt the dragon runes even though they are a bit clueless when it comes to this topic.

This is one of those books where the hero(s) doesn't know what a gem they are at the start. While it is frustrating to see them being put down every step of the way, little do you know they will do great things.

I liked Roeg and Sephonei's ability to stick it out through difficult times. Despite minimum instruction and knowledge, they were able to make it out of tough situations. I admire that. The story was engaging enough for me to never want to put the book down. There was never a dull moment. Both Roeg and Sephonei's storylines were easily understood and followed. The story was fast-paced but the author has done a great job at developing the characters quickly and effectively. There were also illustrations along the way, which added to the appeal.

There wasn't anything I disliked. The writing style was enjoyable, the editing was well done, and overall it was an intriguing story.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars since I found every aspect of it enjoyable. There is a whole lot of action and messages to learn. Some being, to always empower ourselves, to never let ourselves be corrupted by outer forces, and to accept and thrive in what life throws our way.

I recommend this book to young adults who enjoy fast-paced, action and adventure-filled books. Adults may also enjoy the story depending on their interests. There are minimal sexual innuendoes and almost no profanities. The content can be read by anyone, no matter their age. Children may enjoy this one due to the magical and hero filled world it presents us with. I quite enjoyed this read and I hope you do too!

I have read a little about Greek mythology but have never read about Norse mythology. Seems like the book has also taken up social issues like bullying amidst all the world-building. Thank you for the engaging review!
