[Following is a volunteer review of "How To Be Successful" by M. Curtis McCoy.]
Have you ever wondered how people become successful? Or what success looks like from another person's perspective? Are you feeling like you are not making progress to achieve your goals or do you simply believe your dreams are unattainable?
How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader witten by M. Curtis McCoy is a motivational, thought provoking, self-help book. By the time M. Curtis McCoy turned 27 years old he was the owner of several companies in numerous industries. However his life was turned inside out once he started having grand mal seizures and was diagnosed with brain cancer. Doctor's had given him 30- days to live. M. Curtis McCoy is a business owner, author and keynote speaker. The content of this book is a compilation of interviews he has conducted as well as valuable life lessons and personal learning experiences.
"Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream."
In this book the author has interviewed people from all walks of life and relays the real life challenges they were faced with and the choices they made to overcome them. No two success stories are the same however some of the most common factors include discipline and drive, choosing to take calculated risks over short-term comfort in order to reach their long-term goal. More importantly making a conscious decision to make the change and holding yourself accountable. M. Curtis McCoy uses his experiences as well as those he has interviewed to give the reader a better understanding of success and self empowerment. He touches down on life lessons applicable to relationships, business and the fundamentals of becoming successful. He talks about topics such as How to be an overnight success, Six keys to building quality friendships and Teach people how to treat you.
I really appreciate how he uses these golden nuggets of wisdom and inspirational quotes throughout the book and gives examples of how they could be applied to ones daily life.
There are biblical references and scripture throughout the book which may be may be sensitive to readers outside of Christian faith.
I give this book the rating of 3 out of 4 stars. This book definitely achieves the intended goal in regards to motivation and inspiration. However I cannot give this book a 4 due to editorial errors.
I would recommend this book to entrepreneurs, those in pursuit of success in any form, and anyone who feels they are in a rut or looking to better themselves.
