Have you ever get curious about the place you live in, the tale your first ancestors had, and how your neighborhood is the way it is?

Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon is a book about legend, family, and science. It starts with the adventure of three adults, Tom, William, Myra, and one witty 13 years old kid Sarah. The purpose of the journey is to visit Tom’s grandfather’s, Bob-bob grave who died at the top of the Olimpic at the age of 74, and to return a relic Tom had brought home 45 years ago after burying his grandfather named “Atlatl”.

The story heated as Sarah, Tom’s granddaughter who suddenly appears one night, claiming to be the child of Tom’s deceased daughter, Becky, Saw and draw perfectly realistic “short face bear” that went extinct 12.000 years ago. Sarah getting upset when Tom doesn't believe her, and leave the camp with the “Atlatl”. But then gone missing for 8 days, and come back with an even more strange story that makes it hard to believe them.

Sheldon did a good job to pique our interest with how he engaged the legend of native America with science and data approved by experts. He makes us feel the adventure to Bob-bob grave in Olympic and the 130 miles journey of The Razor Stone tribe across the sea to find wives.

Although it's good for Sheldon to name the character based on how early people could be named. It's often confusing and a little hard to keep track of the story. Also, the story of Sarah's adventures is unnecessarily long and tiresome. Sometimes makes me wonder if I am still on Sarah's or a different story.

Despite my early confusion, I will rate this book 4 out of 4. Because this book had excellent grammar, no typos, and well proofreading.

I will recommend this book to someone who loves legends and mystical stories. Although it's not suitable for readers with a weak stomach, because of way too much blood and a troublesome way to dead.
